(E Book 233) Claver Purandar Treaty Part 2

Mirza Raje, in front of Aurangzeb, had taken a solemn oath, stating:

“I will finish both Shivaji and his kingdom…!”

Maharaj replied, “I am a criminal and a sinner. I have no place to show my face in the Emperor’s realm. Therefore, for my service, please grant the Mansabdari to my son Sambhaji Raje. Whatever task you assign me in the South, I will do it and not betray the Emperor!”

After meeting Maharaj, Mirza Raje began to say, “It is my duty to save Shivaji and his Swaraj…!”

Diler Khan, stubborn and enraged, said, “I will not accept any talk of a treaty until I capture Purandar Fort and massacre every single person inside…!”

Maharaj said, “Purandar Fort is yours. I have brought its keys to give to you. Here you go…”

Maharaj further said, “It is pure foolishness to dare to fight a brave Sardar like you. Disregarding my past behavior, if you recommend me to the Emperor to keep me in his service, I will be saved.”

Saying this, Maharaj honored Khan grandly while handing over the keys.
