Shivaji Maharaj’s first naval expedition began from Malvan and reached Basrur after 340 km in 8 days, arriving on 14 February 1665.

Soldiers from Gurab ships collected additional supplies from nearby villages (Belthur, Bagvadi, Hattangadi, Hemmadi, Gangolli, Kundapur).
